Ominous Sign For Senators on Brady Tkachuk's Injury Status

At Ottawa Senators practice on Tuesday morning, injured captain Brady Tkachuk took the ice with the team, wearing a regular jersey. That's the good news. But that goodness lasted only 16 minutes. Then the bad news: Tkachuk was forced to leave the skate very early in line rushes, and didn't return.

And that can only mean one thing for now, per insider Bruce Garrioch, at least until we learn more:

It's time to "hold the optimism" on the Senators captain.

Like his brother, he suffered some sort of injury during their time with Team USA at the 4 Nations Face-Off, and Brady did not play in their first game back from the break.

The Sens find themselves barely clinging to a Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference, tied in points with the Columbus Blue Jackets, but with the Boston Bruins and NY Rangers both lurking within two points of them. Ottawa can ill-afford to be without Tkachuk for long.

The 25-year-old has 21 goals and 23 assists for 44 points in 56 games. As he goes, the Senators go.
