Panthers Rumors: Florida Linked To Two Forwards
The Florida Panthers remain in trade discussions ahead of the March 7 deadline, with The Fourth Period linking them to Chicago Blackhawks forward Ryan Donato and Montreal Canadiens forward Jake Evans as potential depth additions.
While GM Bill Zito continues to prioritize adding a right-shot defenseman, he is also looking at moves to strengthen the bottom six.
“Yeah, it certainly seems like that’s what Bill Zito would like to do with his group,” TFP’s David Pagnotta said on The Latest podcast. “Looking around, seeing what kind of bargain-type deals that can work and fit for his group.”

Donato, one of Chicago’s most productive forwards this season with 15 goals and 30 points, has drawn interest from multiple teams, including the Ottawa Senators, Winnipeg Jets, Los Angeles Kings, Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils, and Carolina Hurricanes.
With a $2 million cap hit and the ability to play all three forward positions, he is expected to be moved for a mid-round pick.

Evans, a more defensive-minded center, could provide stability to the Panthers’ fourth line, though his role in Montreal makes him less likely to be dealt.
The 28-year-old has recorded 11 goals and 27 total points across 53 games this season, on track to beat his previous career-high of 13 goals and 29 points.
Florida currently has just under $2 million in cap space, but with more room expected to accumulate, Zito is likely to remain aggressive as the team prepares for a deep playoff run.
