Puljujarvi, 26, has appeared in 26 games this season with the Penguins, where he has three goals, nine points, 45 hits, and a minus-1 rating. His last appearance with the NHL squad was on Jan. 29 against the Utah Hockey Club, where he had a plus-1 rating.
Puljujarvi had a hot start to the season with the Penguins, posting five points in his first six games. However, he cooled off immensely after that, as he had just four points in his final 20 games with Pittsburgh. Due to his struggles, he also rapidly fell down the Penguins' depth chart.
Puljujarvi also played in four games with Pittsburgh's AHL affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, where he had one goal, three points, and a minus-2 rating. His last appearance with Wilkes/Barre Scranton was on Feb. 7 against the Bridgeport Islanders.
Assuming Puljujarvi clears unconditional waivers, his contract will be terminated by the Penguins, and he will become a free agent.
In 382 career NHL games split between the Edmonton Oilers, Carolina Hurricanes, and Penguins, Puljujarvi has 57 goals, 127 points, and a plus-6 rating.
