Bunting was absent from the Penguins' Feb. 26 practice due to an illness, and now we know the specifics of it.
Bunting, 29, has appeared in 58 games this season with the Penguins, where he has 14 goals, 29 points, 59 hits, and a minus-18 rating. This is after he had 19 goals and 55 points in 81 games split between the Carolina Hurricanes and Penguins this past season.
Bunting has created some chatter as a trade candidate leading up to the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline, but him now being out for surgery will likely change things on that front.
Bunting has appeared in 326 career NHL games split between the Arizona Coyotes, Toronto Maple Leafs, Hurricanes, and Penguins, where he has 90 goals, 120 assists, 210 points, 302 penalty minutes, and a plus-10 rating. Here's to hoping that the 2014 fourth-round pick has a speedy recovery from here.
