Predators Rookie Wilsby Impresses, Signs Multi-Year Extension

Defenseman Adam Wilsby has made a nice impression for the Nashville Predators in his first 23 games with the club. Enough that the Preds have decided to sign him up for a two-year extension.

It's a two-year contract at the league minimum $775,000, that begins as a two-way deal for 2025-26 then converts to a one-way in the second year, in 2026-27. He had been set to be a restricted free agent after the season before this deal was struck.

Wilsby, 24, was a fourth-round pick in the 2020 Draft by Nashville, and spent his first two+ seasons toiling the American Hockey League with the Milwaukee Admirals, proving his worth to the Preds. And that he did, earning a promotion this season in late November, and he's played every game that he's been healthy since then. He's currently out day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

In 23 games, he has five points and a plus/minus rating of +3, averaging 18:06 ice time per night. In his last contest a week ago, he skated for a career-high 22:36 TOI.

With the Admirals last season, in 61 games, Wilsby posted 21 points with a +17 rating. This year, in 13 games to start the year there, he recorded five points in 13 games with a +5.

Wilsby is an offensive defenseman with solid passing skills and is strong in transition.
