Rasmussen Blindsided, Ducks' Zegras Faces Suspension For Head Shot
Sometimes, the NHL's Department of Player Safety is criticized for a lack of consistency. But when it comes to hits to the head, you can usually be pretty sure that a suspension is coming.
That's the fate likely facing the Anaheim Ducks' Trevor Zegras, who will have a hearing with DoPS after this blindsided shoulder to the head on an unsuspecting Michael Rasmussen of the Detroit Red Wings.
Someone explain to me like I’m 5 years old how Trevor Zegras wasn’t penalized and ejected for this? pic.twitter.com/yQGTgEzZBS

Rasmussen was dazed and slow to get up after the collision and went to the locker room. But shockingly, there was no penalty called by the on-ice officials.
The Red Wings' 6'6" center had scored his 9th goal of the season earlier in the game, but did not return after the incident.
“When a player gets a hit to the head and doesn’t return, it is never a good sign,” Red Wings head coach Todd McLellan said afterwards. They're still awaiting news on the player's condition.
Detroit won the game 5-4 on a Patrick Kane goal in overtime.
