Report: Bruins “Going With The Flow” on Frederic & Brazeau

The Boston Bruins find themselves in a very unfamiliar 6th place in the Atlantic Division going into play on Tuesday, but only one point back of the two Wild Card spots in the Eastern Conference. Are they buyers or sellers at this point?

According to insider David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the futures of two potential trade candidates in Boston, Trent Frederic and Justin Brazeau, both pending unrestricted free agents, are still up in the air.

They are going to just kind of go with the flow for now, with respect to Frederic and Brazeau. They wanna see where they lineup. They're just on the outside of the playoffs, but the teams ahead of them have games in hand though. They're going to kind of tread lightly going into the deadline.

In other words, GM Don Sweeney is going to wait and see if his team stays in the playoff hunt as they get close to the March 7th deadline, before deciding on which way to go.

Contract talks with both Frederic and Brazeau have been "mild", says Pagnotta, so it doesn't sound like any potential extension talks would get in the way if teams come calling and Sweeney is willing to listen.

The Bruins have 58 points in 54 games, a full four points back of the Ottawa Senators who hold down 3rd place and the last guaranteed playoff spot in the Atlantic. They also trail the Detroit Red Wings, who have 59 points in 53 games, and the Tampa Bay Lightning, who also have 58 points, but have three games in hand.
