Report: Buffalo Sabres Have Primary Goal With Jordan Greenway
It has been a tough season for the Buffalo Sabres. Even after winning six out of their last 10 games, they are still at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings with the NHL trade deadline rapidly approaching. Due to this, it is certainly possible they will sell off some of their pending unrestricted free agents by the deadline.
However, it appears that they are hoping not to do that with forward Jordan Greenway. According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Sabres' goal is to still sign Greenway to a contract extension rather than trade him with the deadline just about here.
Greenway, 28, has appeared in 22 games this season with the Sabres, where he has three goals, eight points, 66 hits, and a plus-1 rating. This is after he had 10 goals, 28 points, 141 hits, and a plus-11 rating in 67 games in 2023-24. With numbers like these, the 6-foot-6 forward provides decent secondary and plenty of grit, so it is understandable that the Sabres are hoping to keep him around.
However, if the Sabres and Greenway do not come to terms on a new contract extension by March 7, the Atlantic Division club will have a decision to make. Greenway could generate a ton of interest, as contenders love big wingers who provide plenty of grit during the playoffs.

We will need to wait and see if the Sabres and Greenway can get a contract extension done from here.
