Report: Penguins Willing To Move Three Players

The Pittsburgh Penguins are expected to continue making moves ahead of the March 7 trade deadline, with Anthony Beauvillier, Kevin Hayes, and Blake Lizotte emerging as likely trade candidates, according to The Athletic

While GM Kyle Dubas has pushed back against the idea of a fire sale, stating, “We’ve had lots of conversations, but are we telling teams that everything must go? No, we are not,” the team has already moved Marcus Pettersson and Drew O’Connor.

With Pittsburgh sitting seven points out of the final Eastern Conference wild-card spot, Dubas appears open to reshaping the roster while keeping the core intact.

Beauvillier, who ranks fifth on the team with 11 goals, has been a productive addition and could be a valuable rental for a playoff contender.

His speed and versatility make him an attractive forward to acquire, and head coach Mike Sullivan praised his recent play, saying, “He’s noticeable and making an impact with his speed, his tenacity, he can shoot the puck.”

Hayes, meanwhile, has struggled with inconsistency but recently snapped a five-game point drought and could see more ice time with Sidney Crosby (upper body) and Evgeni Malkin (lower body) both dealing with injuries.

With nine goals in 38 games, he isn’t a primary scoring option, but his size and 11 seasons of experience could appeal to teams looking for depth at center.

Lizotte has quietly provided steady two-way play and remains focused on the task at hand despite the trade speculation. “You take one game at a time,” Lizotte said. “You don’t look too far ahead or too far behind.”

The 27-year-old has recorded eight goals and 12 total points across 36 games played this season.

With the deadline approaching, the Penguins are not in full sell mode, but moving Beauvillier, Hayes, and Lizotte could be the next steps they take leading up to the trade deadline.
