Report: Seth Jones prefers trade from Chicago Blackhawks

Seth Jones wants a chance to win a Stanley Cup, and he knows that's not going to be happening anytime soon as a Chicago Blackhawk. According to Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun Times, Jones and the Blackhawks are working together as the right-handed defenseman is seeking a chance to win.

"I would like to give myself a chance to win in my career. I know that the money is not an easy thing to move, and that’s what we’re figuring out," stated Jones to Pope. The 30-year-old blueliner is due $9.5 million AAV through the 2029-30 season, and does own a full no-movement clause. Recently, Jones has been linked to the Dallas Stars and Columbus Blue Jackets.

Jones has not requested a trade, he and his agent alongside Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson have talked ‘back and forth’ about the possibility of a move. The trade deadline is set for March 7.
“If it happens, it happens. Obviously, while I’m here with the Blackhawks, they have my full effort [and] full attention to this team to try to get this team better … You have fun coming to the rink every day. That’s what my goal is for this team, as long as I’m here. It could be two weeks. It could be five more years.”
Jones has recorded five goals and 19 assists for 24 points through 37 games this season. The Blackhawks currently sit second last in the Western Conference, with a 17-31-7 record.
