Seth Jones Rips Blackhawks After Ugly Loss: "4 Years at the Bottom"
We're quickly reaching the breaking point with Seth Jones and the Chicago Blackhawks. Last week, it came to light that Jones is looking for a trade to a contender, and it's games like Tuesday night's dreadful 2-1 loss to the Utah Hockey Club that solidify his desire to get out. And he held nothing back after the game:
“We’re the exact same team right now as we were game 1. It’s pretty evident out there. We haven’t made any strides to be a better, more simple hockey team, and it shows.”

Seth Jones, whose filter is completely gone at this point: “We’re the exact same team right now as we were game 1. It’s pretty evident out there. We haven’t made any strides to be a better, more simple hockey team, and it shows.”

“We had no business being in that game.”
As beat writer Ben Pope noted, "Jones' filter is completely gone" at this point, and he isn't holding back any longer on his frustration with his team.
“We’re the exact same team right now as we were Game 1. It’s pretty evident out there. We haven’t made any strides to be a better, more simple hockey team, and it shows," said a disheartened Jones. "This has been almost four years at the bottom of the league."
“We had no business being in that game.”
As Jones alluded to, though they only lost 2-1, the shots on goal were 36-22 in favor of Utah, and that's not even half the story. The Blackhawks weren’t really close to being competitive in this one, as evidenced by Utah's domination in shot attempts, 93-39.
Jones certainly did all he could in this one, playing 25:27, blocking four shots and laying out five hits in addition to his goal.
As Darren Dreger revealed on TSN's hockey coverage Tuesday night, there are some teams that are willing to take on Jones and his $9.5 million cap hit x 5 more years, but they aren't contenders. The 30-year-old D-man holds a full no-move clause, and wants to go to a team in contention.
Things could get even more blustery in the Windy City over the next 10 days or so.
