Stars Provide Brutal Injury Update About Miro Heiskanen
While speaking with reporters, including NHL.com's Mike Heika, Dallas Stars head coach Pete DeBoer announced that star defenseman Miro Heiskanen has had knee surgery and is now considered month-to-month.
Heiskanen, 25, has not played since the Stars' Jan. 28 contest against the Vegas Golden Knights. Heiskanen suffered his injury after Golden Knights captain Mark Stone dove and collided with his knee.

Before undergoing this surgery, Heiskanen was considered week-to-week, but he will now, unfortunately, be forced to miss far more time than previously expected.
This is brutal news for the Stars, as Heiskanen is their best defenseman and a big reason for their overall success. However, the Stars will now need to adjust without their top blueliner as they push toward the playoffs.
Heiskanen has appeared in 50 games this season with the Stars, where he has five goals, 25 points, 85 blocks, and a plus-7 rating. This is after he had nine goals and 54 points in 71 games with the Stars this past season.
It will be fascinating to see how the Stars perform without Heiskanen from here.
