Stars Rumors: Dallas Could Move Mavrik Bourque For The "Right Price"

With the NHL trade deadline approaching, there is growing belief that the Dallas Stars may be willing to move 23-year-old forward Mavrik Bourque in the right deal.

According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, Dallas is exploring moves to strengthen its roster, and Bourque’s name has come up in trade discussions.

“Bourque could be available for the right piece,” Pagnotta reported, noting that GM Jim Nill has a track record of rewarding his team when they are in contention.

The Stars already made a notable trade on February 1, acquiring Mikael Granlund and Cody Ceci from San Jose, but they may not be done yet.

Dallas has been linked to several high-profile players, including New York Islanders center Brock Nelson, Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones, and Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Erik Karlsson.

Chicago is reportedly interested in Bourque as part of a potential return for Jones, with Andy Jachim of The Hockey Writers stating that he "would be a good place to start for Chicago in negotiations."

Bourque, who posted 77 points in 71 AHL games last season, has shown flashes of offensive potential but has yet to secure a permanent role in the Stars' lineup.

The 23-year-old has nine goals and 19 total points across 52 games played. He was the 30th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft by the Stars.

With Tyler Seguin already on LTIR and Miro Heiskanen potentially joining him, the Stars have the cap space to make a significant move.

If the right deal presents itself, Bourque could be on the move as Dallas looks to strenghen its roster for a deep playoff run.
