Team Canada Gets Brutal Shea Theodore Injury News
Team Canada picked up a hard-fought 4-3 overtime win against Team Sweden on Wednesday night to kick off the Four Nations Face-Off. Overall, it was an incredibly entertaining contest between the two clubs.
Unfortunately, Team Canada's big win came with a cost, as head coach Jon Cooper shared with reporters after the game that Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Shea Theodore will miss the rest of the 4 Nations Face-Off due to an upper-body injury.
Following the game, Cooper said that the injury is "heartbreaking for the kid," as relayed by NHL insider Chris Johnston.

Theodore was injured after receiving a hit from Sweden's Adrian Kempe during the second period. Theodore's wrist was crushed against the glass following the hit, and he did not return for the rest of the game.

Per the 4 Nations Face-Off rules, Canada is not allowed to bring in another defenseman to replace Theodore now that the tournament has started. As a result, Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Travis Sanheim will replace Theodore in the lineup.
This is such a tough break for Theodore, especially with it being so early in the tournament. We will need to wait and see how Canada performs without the star blueliner in their lineup from here.
