TRADE: Predators Acquire Veteran D-Man From Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks have dealt off some defensive depth, sending Mark Friedman to the Nashville Predators for future considerations.

Friedman will begin his journey with the Preds in the AHL, with the Milwaukee Admirals.

The 29-year-old has only gotten into five games with the Canucks this season, while spending 20 contests with Abbotsford, where he had six points and a plus-4 rating.

In 93 NHL games across seven seasons, the 5'11" right-shot Friedman has 13 points, 80 penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating while averaging just over 13 minutes of ice time per night.

He was a third-round selection by the Philadelphia Flyers (86th overall) in the 2014 NHL Draft, but didn't make his NHL debut until 2018-19. After three years with Philly (and getting into just 11 games), Friedman was claimed on waivers by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2021 and then spent the next three campaigns with them. In his two years with Vancouver, he totaled just 28 games.
