With Gourde and Bjorkstrand first to go, here's three Kraken trade candidates as changes could continue in the next 48 hours:
Brandon Tanev
Tanev is built for the Stanley Cup Playoffs and is likely on the move. His $3.5 million cap hit is tough for most contending teams to swallow, so expect a team to overpay for some salary retention. Tanev is an effective role player, great for the dressing room, and so far this season has chipped in with nine goals in 60 games. The 33-year-old owns a 10-team no-trade clause, and could be someone the Toronto Maple Leafs consider adding.
Jaden Schwartz
With Bjorkstrand off to the Lightning it's obvious Francis is open to moving players with term. Schwartz has one season left on his contract at $5.5 million AAV, and he owns a 16-team no-trade clause, and so far this season has posted decent numbers with 19 goals in 62 games. Schwartz has a ton of playoff experience and won a Stanley Cup with the St. Louis Blues in 2019. The 32-year-old hasn't been at the top of many trade boards, but with Francis in sell mode anything is possible at this point.
Jared McCann
McCann would fetch Francis a ton of assets if he's looking into the future in Seattle. McCann leads the Kraken with 44 points in 62 games this season, and is averaging over 17 minutes per game, spending time on both sides of special teams. McCann's versatile, he can score in bunches and he could certainly move the needle for a contending team.
