3 Colorado Avalanche Contract Extension Candidates

The 2025 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now. Yet, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.

In this latest edition of the series, we will take a look at the Colorado Avalanche.

Brock Nelson

The Avalanche gave up a lot to acquire Nelson from the New York Islanders, so they would likely love to keep the veteran forward around beyond this season. The pending unrestricted free agent has been an impactful scorer over the last several seasons, and it would be massive for the Avs if they kept in their top six because of it.

Jonathan Drouin

Drouin is having another solid season with the Avalanche this season, posting 10 goals and 30 points in 36 games. He has found his fit with the Avalanche big time, so he is a clear player to watch when it comes to a potential extension. However, he is certainly due for a nice raise from his current $2.5 million cap hit.

Ryan Lindgren

Lindgren could be another player who the Avalanche look to sign to an extension before July 1. The Central Division club acquired the pending unrestricted free agent from the New York Rangers before the deadline, and he has been fitting in nicely.
