3 Edmonton Oilers Contract Extension Candidates

The 2025 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now. Yet, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.

For this latest edition of the series, let's take a look at the Edmonton Oilers.

Evan Bouchard

Bouchard is a pending restricted free agent and due for a nice raise from his current $3.9 million cap hit. The 25-year-old blueliner is the middle of another strong offensive season, posting 13 goals, 53 points, and a plus-15 rating in 66 games. This is after he had 18 goals and 82 points in 81 games last season. Given his importance to the Oilers' blueline, he is easily the Oilers' top extension candidate.

Connor Brown

After recording four goals and 12 points in 71 games last season, Brown has gotten things back on track with the Oilers this campaign. In 66 contests, he has eight goals, 16 assists, and 24 points. With numbers like these, he has been a solid part of the Oilers' forward group this season, so they could look to keep the pending unrestricted free agent around.

Ty Emberson

Emberson is another extension candidate to keep an eye on from the Oilers. The pending restricted free agent has become a mainstay on the Oilers' blueline this season, posting 10 assists, 85 blocks, and 101 hits in a career high 64 games. The Oilers could look to extend him at a reasonable cap hit because of it.
