3 Florida Panthers Contract Extension Candidates

The 2025 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now. Yet, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.

In this latest edition of the series, let's take a look at the Florida Panthers.

Sam Bennett

The Panthers and Bennett have been having extension talks, so he is clear player to watch. It is no secret that the Panthers want to keep him around, as he is an incredibly important part of their core. He not only provides them strong offense but also gives them plenty of grit to go along with it. Thus, it would not be surprising if they locked him up on a long-term extension.

Aaron Ekblad

Ekblad is a big part of the Panthers' blueline, so the possibility of him receiving an extension should not be ruled out. The pending unrestricted free agent has spent the entirety of his 11-year career as a Panther, and it would be a big loss for Florida if he signed elsewhere in free agency. Therefore, expect them to work hard to keep him around.

Brad Marchand

Marchand has yet to play his first game as a Panther, but if he impresses once he is healthy, it would not all that surprising if they tried to extend the star. It is important to note that Marchand also said that Florida was his preferred destination once it became clear an extension wasn't going to get done with the Boston Bruins.
