3 Minnesota Wild Contract Extension Candidates

The 2025 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now. Yet, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.

In this latest edition of the series, we will be taking a look at the Minnesota Wild.

Marco Rossi

Rossi is a clear extension candidate for the Wild. He is in the final season of his entry-level contract and is undoubtedly due for a nice raise. The 23-year-old forward has hit a new level this season, as he has scored 21 goals and has set new career highs with 32 assists and 53 points in 67 games. With this, he has emerged as a crucial part of Minnesota's forward group.

Declan Chisholm

Chisholm has become a key part of the Wild's defense this season, so he is a player they will likely look to keep around beyond this season. The 25-year-old blueliner has two goals, 12 points, and 60 blocks in 58 games this campaign. He also is currently playing top-four minutes, so it would not be shocking if the Wild worked quickly to sign him to a new deal.

Gustav Nyquist

The Wild acquired Nyquist at the 2025 NHL trade deadline to improve their forward depth. They clearly like the player, as this is now his second stint in Minnesota. Due to this, it would not be all that surprising if the Wild looked to extend the 35-year-old winger. This is especially so if he is willing to re-sign at an affordable cap hit.
