3 New York Rangers Who Won't Be Back Next Season: Post Trade Deadline Fallout

The New York Rangers have made a lot of changes this season to their team and it does look like a group that can not only make the playoffs this season, but come back strong next season and do well. Even with all of the changes, there's more to be done in the offseason.

Chris Kreider

Chris Kreider has really fallen off offensively and it's time for the Rangers to part with him as they have been trying to do. His contract was tough to move at the trade deadline with two years left on it at $6.5 million AAV, but he does have a 15 team no-trade list, so there's plenty of teams that he could be moved to. With the talent on the team, he should be able to be replaced on the top power-play unit and has already been dropped to the third line.

Juuso Parssinen

Juuso Parssinen was a mid-season pickup for the Rangers, but hasn't really got his chance. That will likely remain that way as there are too many forwards all competing for spots and he hasn't made himself stand out. He is one of five RFA forwards and one of seven RFA players on the team, so as a player who has only gotten into four games for the Rangers, he isn't a top priority and unless he plans on playing in the AHL for most of next season, will look elsewhere for a contract since the Rangers likely won't even qualify him.

Calvin de Haan

Calvin de Haan came over from the Colorado Avalanche recently and has gotten into three games, but that is because Adam Fox is currently on the injured reserve. With the defense the Rangers have assembled, there isn't any room for de Haan moving forward unless he is going to be the eighth defenseman. I don't think a veteran who has played 47 games this season is looking for that. He is a UFA after the season and as he shouldn't get very many games in with the Rangers for the remainder of the season, it will be a mutual parting in the offseason.
