3 Philadelphia Flyers Who Won't Be Back Next Season: Post Trade Deadline Fallout

The Philadelphia Flyers are an interesting team in that I believe most of their moves were made during the season already. This won't stop the Flyers from making any changes though as there is cap space, the team is expected to compete more next season, and there is room for upgrades. The team should see some players move on in that case.

Yegor Zamula

Yegor Zamula is still signed through next season, but he appears to have less trust than a younger and more talented defenseman like Emil Andrae, who has averaged two more minutes per game when he has gotten in the lineup. Zamula should be a trade candidate that the Flyers would be able to use to upgrade their back-end or even somewhere else more. Andrae can step in and have a full time role, and between Travis Sanheim, Rasmus Ristolainen, Nick Seeler, Cam York, and Jamie Drysdale, there isn't much space unless there is a different unexpected trade or injury. Zamula is the most tradeable and least effective of the bunch.

Olle Lycksell

Olle Lycksell is just a placeholder until the end of the season for the Flyers. There is young talent like Jett Luchanko on his way and there will need to be space in the lineup. Even if more prospects don't break through, the Flyers should be looking to bring in some more talent in free agency. Lycksell seems like one of those career AHLers who won't be able to figure it out in the NHL, and he is 25 years old, so he is running out of chances. He could be back, but not in an NHL role.

Rodrigo Abols

Rodrigo Abols is more likely gone. He too is filling in on the fourth line until the end of the season, but in his case, he's 29 years old and is not NHL caliber. He has played his first NHL games this season and is a UFA this summer. Like I mentioned above, the Flyers will be seeking upgrades and there will be a lot of available talent that is more effective than Abols.
