3 Potential Offseason Trade Destinations For Penguins' Rickard Rakell
The NHL saw several big-time trade candidates get dealt before the deadline passed, but Pittsburgh Penguins forward Rickard Rakell was not one of them. However, with the Penguins rebuilding their roster, that certainly could change during the offseason if they receive a big enough offer for the veteran forward.
Due to this, let's go over three offseason trade destinations for Rakell now.
Los Angeles Kings
The Kings were one of the clubs linked to Rakell at the deadline, and it would be entirely understandable if they pursued him again this offseason. It is no secret that they could use another scorer at right wing on their top six, and Rakell would give them that. While they brought in Andrei Kuzmenko from the Philadelphia Flyers at the deadline, he is more likely to be a rental. Rakell would be more than that.
Boston Bruins
The Bruins could be another team to pay attention to when it comes to Rakell this offseason. While they sold several of their top players at the deadline, they consider themselves retooling rather than rebuilding. Bringing in Rakell would provide them with a proven top-six forward for their 2RW spot, which has been a need all this season.
Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks could also be among the suitors for Rakell this offseason. They could use another top-six winger, and this will be even more of the case if they lose Brock Boeser in free agency this summer. Thus, they should be watched in the Rakell sweepstakes.
