3 Vancouver Canucks Contract Extension Candidates

The 2025 NHL Trade Deadline saw several teams make moves, and the league looks far different now. Yet, now that the deadline has passed, we won’t see any more trades until after the season. Although this is the case, we still could see teams sign players to contract extensions. As a result, we here at NHLTR will be going over three contract extension candidates from each team.

In this latest edition of the series, we will be taking a look at the Vancouver Canucks.

Brock Boeser

Boeser was a popular name in the rumor leading up to the trade deadline, but a move did not come to fruition. Now, the star winger will finish the season with the Canucks. With Boeser not being on the move, it would not be too surprising if the Canucks continue to try to get him signed to an extension by July 1. Losing him for nothing in free agency would sting for Vancouver.

Pius Suter

Suter is another pending UFA who the Canucks could work to keep around beyond this season. The 28-year-old forward is in the middle of a strong season with the Canucks. In 65 games, he has set a new career-high with 18 goals and has 32 points to go along with a plus-3 rating. Overall, he is a solid player who proves plenty of versatility, so it would be understandable if Vancouver kept him around.

Derek Forbort

If Forbort is willing to stay around at a cheap price, the Canucks could consider extending the defensive defenseman. The 33-year-old is a solid veteran defenseman who could be good for the Canucks for extra blueline depth next season. In 40 games this season, he has one goal, seven points, 41 hits, and 62 blocks.
