3 Vancouver Canucks Who Won't Be Back Next Season: Post Trade Deadline Fallout

The Vancouver Canucks are fighting for their playoff chances in a very tight race in the West. The team made some moves ahead of the deadline and changed the complexion of their roster. There definitely needs to be work done in the offseason, but there aren't too many spots the team can easily change out.

Brock Boeser

The Canucks would like to keep Brock Boeser and along with weak offers at the trade deadline, the team has some time to still negotiate a new contract. That being said, Boeser has the chance to become a UFA for the first time in his career and hasn't agreed to anything with the Canucks yet. Some thoughts are that the Minnesota Wild, Boeser's hometown team, will push hard for him if he reaches free agency. Boeser is going to get paid and even though Vancouver wants to keep him, he may decide elsewhere. It's looking more and more likely as the days pass.

Derek Forbort

The Canucks are going to be looking for defensive upgrades in the offseason, and that likely means Derek Forbort will be moving on. He has been alright as the third pairing d-man, but with Elias Pettersson and Victor Mancini pushing for more playing time, there are six defensemen that should be in the lineup and room to add another. Forbort is a UFA this summer and will sign somewhere.

Noah Juulsen

The Canucks fans have really turned on Noah Juulsen this season. He has played 35 games and hasn't recorded a point. He is on the injured reserve right now, but is a -12 and is averaging just over 16 minutes of ice time per game as well. The Canucks are much more likely to even keep Forbort around than Juulsen. There's a debate whether he should still be playing in the NHL, but at the very least, he needs a change in scenery and away from the Canucks and the fanbase.
