4 Latest Teams Linked To Canuck's Boeser
The Vancouver Canucks haven't figured out exactly what they are going to do with Brock Boeser yet as the trade deadline is right around the corner. While there is a chance that the team keeps him and plays out the year while trying to sign him for the extra few months it would give them, there are also some contenders that are being linked to him. The four latest are the Minnesota Wild, Los Angeles Kings, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Wild have a lot of cap space to work with next season for the first time in a long time. With how impressive the team has been with so much dead cap the last number of seasons, it only makes sense that the team not only pursues a high-end player, but offers him more money and longer term than the Canucks as well. There are some older players that are going to be declining and moving on sooner than later, so spots need to be filled.
The rumor mill hasn't been quiet surrounding the Kings as they are looking at adding a top-6 winger who can score. With the cap space available, who better to fit that than Boeser? The Kings are a solid team, but have to continue finding ways to remain competitive as Anze Kopitar reaches the end of his career. Having both Boeser and Adrian Kempe scoring goals at the top of their lineup would be great for them.
The Lightning have constantly been linked to Alex Tuch, but if he is to be traded by the Buffalo Sabres, there will be a number of interested parties. It makes total sense that the Lightning are also looking around for more options that can scratch the same itch. Boeser is one of those pieces and I am betting his offense shoots up if he joins the Lightning for a potential deep run. It is a year to make a big swing with everything Tampa Bay can.
The Maple Leafs are in an interesting position as there are a lot of pieces available to them, but the bottom of the lineup has to contribute more and more consistently. Max Domi has nearly been invisible in the goal department, but another concern for Toronto is Mitch Marner potentially hitting free agency as a UFA after the season. Do they really want two top of the line players leaving in the offseason with limited time to discuss contract extensions? He would provide the ammo to actually break through, but it is once again a tough top of the division.
