4 Potential Trade Destinations for Oilers' Evander Kane

Hockey insider Elliotte Friedman dropped a little bit of a 'Friedge Bomb' on Saturday, stating the Edmonton Oilers are considering the trade market for Evander Kane. The injured forward lost his full no-trade clause and now only can block trades to 16 teams moving forward.

Kane has one season left on his deal at $5.1 million and has yet to play a game this season as he recovers from multiple surgeries throughout the past few months. The Oilers are looking to make a splash and moving Kane could be exactly the avenue to get it done.

Here's four potential destinations for the the 33-year-old winger:

Columbus Blue Jackets

Hard to say if Kane would approve a move to the Blue Jackets, but he should be. They're exceeding expectations this season and are on track to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and also have a solid young core to have ongoing success. Columbus has the cap space to add Kane with ease, and GM Don Waddell is looking to upgrade his roster ahead of Friday's deadline. Adding Kane would move the needle for the Blue Jackets.

Colorado Avalanche

The Avalanche are looking to move Casey Mittelstadt, perhaps a one-for-one swap gets it done? Kane's speed plays on Colorado and his toughness would be a welcomed addition to the Avs' top six. It's not often you see a top-six player moved in an in-conference deal, but that could be the case here to help both teams fill needs.

Tampa Bay Lightning

The Lightning always seem to surprise this time of year with their acquisitions, and adding Kane would be a welcomed addition to their middle six. Tampa Bay would certainly be a team on Kane's approval list and currently have $5.4 million in cap space. It would be interesting to see two teams in the Stanley Cup mix make a deal together. Tampa has two 2025 second-round picks, moving one would be enough to get the Oilers to bite.

Washington Capitals

The Caps are a team to watch before the deadline as they've exceeded expectations in a major way this year, and their GM is looking to make another run for a Cup for Alex Ovechkin. The Oilers would prefer to move Kane to the Eastern Conference, and Washington is one of three teams that make some level of sense. While they wouldn't budge on any of their upper-tier prospects, they'd love to unload pending UFA Andrew Mangiapane, who has just 11 goals in his first 59 games with the Caps this season.
