Avalanche Sign Goaltender To Two-Way Deal

Adam Scheel's career trajectory just hit a high note! The Colorado Avalanche have officially signed the 25-year-old goaltender to a two-way contract for the remainder of the 2024-25 season, a deal carrying a prorated $775,000 annual average value.

This move bolsters their goaltending depth, a crucial asset for a team eyeing a deep playoff run.

At 25, Adam Scheel's path to the NHL has been a grind. Though he briefly touched the Stars' roster in 2021-22, an NHL debut eluded him. Signed as an undrafted free agent, he battled through the minors, splitting time between the AHL and ECHL, before Dallas released him.

Even a standout season with the Chicago Wolves, where he posted a .907 save percentage on a struggling team, couldn't secure him an NHL deal.

Continuing his minor league career, Adam Scheel signed an AHL contract with the Avalanche's affiliate for the 2024-25 season.

He's splitting his time between the AHL and ECHL, but his AHL performance has been impressive, with a 2.61 GAA and .911 SV%. As part of a three-goalie rotation, he serves as a crucial depth piece for the Avalanche, providing injury insurance down the stretch.

Scheel is slated to be an unrestricted free agent in the upcoming offseason.
