Dallas Stars Get Huge Update on Tyler Seguin

When Dallas Stars center Tyler Seguin went down to hip surgery three and a half months ago, the timeline was said to be four-to-six months. So is he getting closer to a return?

Per head coach Pete DeBoer on Tuesday, Seguin is on target to be back in the lineup before the playoffs, which are just a month away.

DeBoer said Seguin, currently on LTIR, was "looking good" as he continues to skate regularly in his rehab.

The 33-year-old would add a huge piece back to the Stars lineup as they head into the playoffs, and with the recent addition of Mikko Rantanen as well, they will certainly be looked at as one of the prime Stanley Cup favorites.

Seguin, even at his advancing age, continues to produce for Dallas, having recorded nine goals and 20 points in 19 games this season, with an incredible plus/minus rating over that time of +14. That's far ahead of the 50-point mark that he's been averaging in his last four full seasons.

His playoff acumen will be a welcome addition as well, as last year, he recorded 13 points in 19 postseason games with a +9 rating.

The Stars are in 2nd place in the Central Division, but with the hard-charging Colorado Avalanche just two points back. It appears those two teams are on a collision course to meet in the first round, making for an incredibly intriguing matchup of Rantanen facing his former team.
