Dallas Stars News: Big Development For Miro Heiskanen & Recovery Timeline
The Dallas Stars have received a very positive development on one of their injured troops on Sunday. Top defenseman Miro Heiskanen's recovery timeline just may be getting bumped up a bit, after he started skating again, sooner than expected.

Early days yet, but skating is a positive sign.
Head coach Pete DeBoer said he's gotten "nothing but positive reports" on Heiskanen's recovery. Just over a week ago, the coach said he feared that the 25-year-old workhorse D-man could be out through the first round of the playoffs, but with a full three weeks before the postseason begins, these new reports give hope that it may be sooner.
Heiskanen has been out for over two months, and had surgery on Feb. 4th after injuring his left knee in a collision with Vegas Golden Knights forward Mark Stone.
He has five goals and 20 assists for 25 points through 50 games this season while placing 6th in the NHL in average time on ice this season at 25:10 per game.
He's been a pretty regular top-10 candidate for the Norris Trophy over the course of his seven-year career with the Stars, averaging 24:30 of ice time, with 283 points in 475 career games with a +21 rating.
The Stars are 48-21-4 this season, in 2nd place in the Central Division, and have more than held their own without their star blueliner. But with a looming first-round matchup against the Colorado Avalanche, any chance that Heiskanen can return for that series would be huge for the club.
Their other star player on LTIR, Tyler Seguin, has been out for four months, but is expected to return before the end of the regular season.
