Devastating News On Colton Parayko, Blues Deadline Plans May Change Again

In a devastating development for the St. Louis Blues' recently rekindled playoff hopes, they've learned that top defenseman Colton Parayko will miss the rest of the regular season after an injury suffered Wednesday night.

Parayko will undergo a scope on his left knee, and will be re-evaluated in six weeks. The injury happened late in overtime in the Blues' 3-2 win over the LA Kings.

The 6'6" D-man was having a terrific season, with a career-best 15 goals and a career-high tying 35 points, while logging 23:51 average ice time per night, with a plus/minus rating of +8. He's also blocked 140 shots and handed out 90 hits in 62 games.

After a 6-1-1 stretch got the team right back into the playoff hunt in the Western Conference, leaving them unlikely to be big sellers at the trade deadline, the big question now is what effect this will have on the Blues' plans leading up to 3pm Eastern on Friday.

Captain Brayden Schenn has been talked about as a big trade chip, as was goaltender Jordan Binnington, but GM Doug Armstrong was likely re-thinking all that with the team's recent play. Now, they could be sellers once again.
