'I Would Be 0% Surprised' – Insider Teases Major Canadiens Move at the Draft

Insider David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period expects the Montreal Canadiens to make a major move at the NHL Draft in June after a quiet trade deadline.

Speaking on TSN Radio in Montreal, Pagnotta explained that while the Canadiens explored potential deals for veterans like David Savard and Joel Armia, none of the offers were strong enough to justify a trade.

“Didn’t seem like the offers that were coming in and trickling in for Savard and Armia were obviously substantial, or else they would have done it,” he said.

Montreal’s front office also opted to keep Christian Dvorak, who generated little interest, choosing instead to focus on giving their young players meaningful games down the stretch.

Pagnotta believes general manager Kent Hughes will be aggressive at the draft, where he has made significant moves in the past, including acquiring Kirby Dach and Alex Newhook.

“I would be 0% surprised if they try to pull off something again, maybe a little bit bigger, a little more impactful around draft time,” he said.

While the Canadiens weren’t in on Dylan Cozens before he landed in Ottawa, Pagnotta suggested Hughes will revisit discussions from the deadline and look to strike a major deal in Los Angeles.
