Insider Provides New Update On Canadiens' David Savard & Joel Armia

The Montreal Canadiens are a team to watch with the trade deadline being two days away. While they have gotten themselves back in the playoff race due to their hot stretch of play, pending unrestricted free agents David Savard and Joel Armia are still creating chatter in the rumor mill.

However, on the latest episode of TSN Insider Trading, Pierre LeBrun provided a big update when it comes to the Canadiens' two pending unrestricted free agents. According to the NHL insider, the Canadiens are not interested in trading both Savard and Armia, but they could move one of the two by the deadline.

"They don't want to trade both [Savard and Armia] by this deadline," LeBrun said. "They feel that would be taking away too much from a team trying to make the playoffs, but certainly they could trade one or the other is what they're telling teams."

It is understandable that the Canadiens are not as open to go into complete selling mode right now. Due to their five-game winning streak, they now trail the New York Rangers by just one point for the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. Thus, they are undoubtedly in the playoff race right now.

It will be fascinating to see what the Canadiens end up doing with Armia and Savard from here. Both players should generate a lot of interest, but based on LeBrun's report, the Habs will only being trading one of them if they do at all.
