NHL Injury Updates: New York Rangers' Arthur Kaliyev Done For The Season

The New York Rangers have announced that forward Arthur Kaliyev will miss the remainder of the regular season and playoffs due to an upper-body injury.
Kaliyev, 23, last played for the Rangers during their March 11 matchup against the Winnipeg Jets. This was also the 6-foot-2 winger's first appearance since the Rangers' Feb. 23 contest against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Rangers claimed Kaliyev off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings on Jan. 6. In 14 games with the Rangers following being the waiver claim, he had three goals, one assist, seven hits, and a plus-2 rating. This is after he had seven goals, 15 points, and a minus-3 rating in 51 games with the Kings this past season.

This is certainly a tough blow for Kaliyev, especially given his history of injury trouble. The young forward is still looking to break out at the NHL level, and his season being finished undoubtedly will not help things on that front.

Kaliyev was selected by the Kings with the 33rd overall pick of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. In 202 career NHL games over five seasons split between the Kings and Rangers, Kaliyev has 38 goals, 75 points, 111 hits, and a minus-10 rating.
