NHL Roster Moves: Edmonton Oilers Recall Derek Ryan

The Edmonton Oilers have announced that they have recalled forward Derek Ryan from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors.

Ryan, 38, was placed on waivers by the Oilers back on Jan. 19 and has played with the Condors since then. In 13 games with the AHL squad this season, he has three goals, five assists, and eight points. Now, he is heading back to the Oilers' roster, where he will look to make an impact.

Ryan has appeared in 33 games this season with the Oilers, where he has one goal, five points, 22 blocks, 24 hits, and a minus-5 rating. This is after he had five goals and 12 points in 70 games with the Oilers this past season.

With Ryan being called back up, he will once again provide the Oilers with another experienced option for their bottom six. In 258 games with the Oilers over four seasons, the Spokane, Washington native has 29 goals, 59 points, and a minus-1 rating.

Ryan is currently in his 10th NHL season. In 603 career NHL games split between the Carolina Hurricanes, Calgary Flames, and Oilers, he has 82 goals, 208 points, and a plus-13 rating.
