The previous 12-year TV rights contract was signed in 2013. The new 12-year agreement kicks in for the 2026-27 season.
Per Sportico, the league’s media and executive committees have recommended that owners approve the deal in a vote in the coming days, and it should be officially announced next week.
The current U.S. TV and streaming rights deal with ESPN and Turner Sports was signed in 2021 and is worth $4.5 billion over seven years combined.
Business is obviously going well for the NHL, as the league recently announced skyrocketing salary cap numbers over the next several years, as well as potential upcoming expansion to another two, or maybe even four cities.
