Oilers News: Huge Update on Leon Draisaitl Ahead of Saturday Night's Game

The Edmonton Oilers got a huge boost of news at morning practice on Saturday, as Leon Draisaitl was a full participant, skating on a line with Vasily Podkolzin & Viktor Arvidsson, and appears good to go to return to the lineup for their big provincial rivalry contest against the Calgary Flames tonight.

Per head coach Kris Knoblauch, Draisaitl, who has missed the team's last four games with a lower body injury, is "probable", and should play.

Connor McDavid, however, will remain out until next week. Also missing for Saturday night's game will be Stuart Skinner, who took a knee to the head in his last outing, and top-pairing D-man Mattias Ekholm, who was also absent in Thursday's 6-1 loss to the Seattle Kraken.

The Oilers went 1-2-1 in Draisaitl's absence.

The superstar forward has been 'stuck' on 49 goals since scoring the overtime winner just over two weeks ago in a 2-1 victory over the New York Islanders.

He also has 52 assists for 101 points (3rd in the NHL), and a plus/minus rating of +30. He leads the NHL in goals, game-winning goals (10) and even-strength goals (34). Needless to say, the Oil will be thrilled to have him back in the lineup.

"It was kind of a weird play, and I felt it pop or grab right away. I think you could see my, my discomfort," Draisaitl said of the injury he suffered during the Oilers’ 7-1 win over Utah on March 18. "It was a weird situation just because of where I was at and where the game was at. It was a 5-0 game, so maybe if that's a tight game, I'm probably not stressing that I'm probably pulling out. So it's all good and it feels good now."
