Jarry, 29, last appeared in a game for Pittsburgh on Jan. 14 against the Seattle Kraken. During that matchup, he allowed three goals on 17 shots. Following this matchup, he was placed on waivers by the Penguins on Jan. 15, where he cleared and was then sent down to the AHL. Now, after almost two months in the AHL, Jarry is getting another crack on the NHL roster.
Jarry has had a tough season with Pittsburgh, and the truth is in his stats. In 22 appearances, he has an 8-8-4 record, a 3.31 goals-against average, and a .886 save percentage. Down in the AHL with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, he has a 6-5-1 record, a .908 save percentage, and a 2.67 goals-against average in 12 games.
Jarry will now look to make a big impact after getting another chance with the Penguins. This is an opportunity for him to try to prove to the Penguins that he still belongs in the NHL.
Blomqvist, 23, has appeared in 15 games for Pittsburgh this season, where he has a 4-9-1 record, a 3.81 goals-against average, and a .885 save percentage. This demotion to the AHL comes after he allowed six goals on 33 shots in Pittsburgh's overtime loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on March 7.
