Rangers’ Activate Adam Fox For High-Stakes Columbus Game

The New York Rangers are set to receive a major boost tonight as they gear up for a pivotal showdown against the Columbus Blue Jackets. According to Mollie Walker of the New York Post, star defenseman Adam Fox has been activated off injured reserve and is ready to make his highly anticipated return to the lineup.

Fox, 27, has been sidelined for the past eight games due to an upper-body injury, widely speculated to be a shoulder issue. While his offensive output hasn’t quite matched the elite 70-point seasons he’s delivered in the past, Fox remains a cornerstone of the Rangers’ defense.

This season, he’s tied for second on the team in scoring among full-season players (alongside Mika Zibanejad, trailing only Artemi Panarin) with 48 points in 58 games, all while logging over 23 minutes of ice time per night.

His absence has been felt most acutely on the power play, where the Rangers have struggled mightily, converting just 2 of 26 opportunities without him. While New York’s power play efficiency ranks a modest 24th in the league, Fox’s return as their top option on the blue line is sure to provide a much-needed spark.

Tonight’s game carries enormous stakes for both teams, as the Rangers and Blue Jackets are deadlocked in the race for the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference, with Columbus currently holding the tiebreaker.

Fox’s comeback couldn’t come at a better time, and he’s expected to slot back into the lineup, replacing newcomer Carson Soucy, who is slated to be a healthy scratch.
