Report: 2 Islanders To Resurface In Trade Rumors This Summer
Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello acknowledged that changes are coming, stating, “There will be change this summer. Until there’s change, you can’t say how much, but I can assure you there will be change.”
With both veterans entering the final year of their contracts in 2025-26, moving them could create cap room and open spots for younger talent.

Pageau has stepped into a larger role since Brock Nelson’s trade to Colorado, posting four points in his last three games and nearing his fourth career 40-point season.
Despite his solid two-way play, his $5 million cap hit could make him expendable as the Islanders look to reshape their forward group.
Lee, who has 25 goals and 45 points in 64 games, remains a productive scorer, but his age and contract situation—one year remaining at $7 million—make him a logical trade candidate.
“We need to get younger. We understand that,” Lamoriello said, indicating that veterans like Pageau and Lee could be moved before next season.

The Islanders opted not to move Kyle Palmieri at the trade deadline due to a lack of strong offers, but they are reportedly working on an extension with him.
Meanwhile, buyouts for Pierre Engvall and Scott Mayfield are also under consideration, with potential combined cap savings of $4.33 million over the next five years.
With attendance struggles and the team stuck between playoff contention and a full rebuild, owner Scott Malkin may take a more active role in the team’s decision-making this offseason.
