Report: Blackhawks "Aggressively" Trying To Trade Petr Mrazek
The Chicago Blackhawks are making a strong push to trade veteran goaltender Petr Mrazek ahead of the deadline, according to NHL insider Frank Seravalli.
With the acquisition of Spencer Knight and the emergence of Arvid Söderblom, Mrazek has become the odd man out in Chicago’s goaltending plans.
The 33-year-old has struggled this season, posting a 3.46 GAA and .890 save percentage over 33 games, and his $4.25 million cap hit for next season makes moving him a challenge. Complicating matters further, the Blackhawks have no salary retention slots available, meaning any trade would require a team willing to take on his full contract or a third-party broker to facilitate salary retention.
The Blackhawks are going to use a two-man goalie rotation of Knight and Soderblom moving forward, Sorensen said. Mrazek is not going to be part of it.

Despite this, general manager Kyle Davidson is working aggressively to find a trade partner. “It’s Knight and Arvid Söderblom moving forward,” Seravalli reported, confirming that Mrazek no longer factors into the team's plans.
A trade could resemble last year’s Jake Allen deal, where a non-contending team acquires a veteran goaltender for stability, but the limited goalie market and Mrazek’s inconsistent play could delay a move until the offseason.
If a deal doesn’t materialize before the deadline, Chicago may need to take back a contract to make it work.
- Petr Mrázek is very much available, and the #Blackhawks are willing to move him for free. The problem is the money and term. Likely a summer move

- There is interest in Lukas Reichel, but a fourth or fifth round pick won’t get it done. The Hawks want a player-for-player swap.
With only days left before the deadline, Mrazek's playing time is expected to decline as Knight and Söderblom take over.
A buyout remains unlikely, but trading him remains a priority.
