Report: Bruins likely trading Brad Marchand to Western Conference

The Brad Marchand sweepstakes are on as it's being reported by TSN's Chris Johnston that not only are the Bruins actively in trade discussions surrounding their captain, if he is dealt, Marchand would be heading west.

Marchand, 36, is a pending unrestricted free agent, who would prefer to stay in Boston, however with the Bruins unlikely to make the playoffs, it's sounding like GM Don Sweeney prefers to trade Marchand as a rental and then open the door to him returning in the summer.

Marchand has an eight-team no-trade clause, but considering everything he's given the franchise, expect Sweeney to only move him to a team he's comfortable joining. One team sticks out immediately, and that's the Colorado Avalanche, and his close friend Nathan MacKinnon.

This NHL trade deadline is turning into must-see tv, with Marchand becoming one of the best trade targets available, in what's a very active sellers market.
