Report: Chicago Blackhawks Shopping Pat Maroon

The Chicago Blackhawks are a team to watch very closely over the next few hours. With Chicago being among the worst teams in the NHL, they could have some more selling to do before the deadline is here.

According to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, the Blackhawks are listening to offers on veteran forward Pat Maroon.

Hearing that the Blackhawks are hearing offers for Maroon is not surprising in the slightest. This is because he is a pending unrestricted free agent and is precisely the kind of veteran that contenders love to add to their forward depth.

Maroon notably has a ton of playoff experience and has won three Stanley Cup championships over his career. He is also well-known for his extremely gritty style of play, which makes him a good player to have around during the playoffs when the games get tougher.

Maroon, 36, has appeared in 56 games this season with the Blackhawks, where he has four goals, 16 points, 71 penalty minutes, and 90 hits.

It will be fascinating to see if Maroon ends up finding a new home once the trade deadline is here. When noting that he is a hard-nosed forward with playoff success, there should be a good amount of interest in his services.
