Report: New York Islanders Take Kyle Palmieri Off Trade Market
Any club looking to acquire New York Islanders forward Kyle Palmieri will have to look for scoring help elsewhere.
According to TSN's Pierre LeBrun, the Islanders have informed Palmieri that he will not be traded by the deadline and are instead focused on signing the veteran winger to a contract extension.
Hearing that the Islanders have told pending UFA Kyle Palmieri they're not trading him today and focused on working on a contract extension with him over the coming days.

This is certainly a notable development, as Palmieri was one of the top wingers left on the trade market. However, he will instead be staying put with the Islanders for the remainder of this season at least.
Hearing that the Islanders are working to sign Palmieri to an extension instead of trading him is understandable. He is a key part of their forward group, and one of their top offensive contributors. While they likely could have gotten a nice return for him in a trade, they clearly value keeping him around more at this stage.
Palmieri, 34, has appeared in 61 games this season with the Islanders, where he has 20 goals and 41 points. This is after he had 30 goals and 54 points in 82 games with the Islanders last season.
It will now be intriguing to see if the Islanders and Palmieri can get an extension done from here.
