Report: Toronto Maple Leafs Linked To Luke Kunin & Brandon Tanev

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been quiet, but that is expected to change with trade deadline day here. It is no secret that they are looking to make upgrades to their roster, and one specific area they are aiming to improve is their bottom six.

According to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, two players the Maple Leafs are continuing to pursue are San Jose Sharks forward Luke Kunin and Seattle Kraken winger Brandon Tanev.
Kunin, 27, has been held out of the Sharks' lineup for trade reasons, so the expectation is that he will be dealt. The 2016 first-round pick would be a solid addition to Toronto's bottom six, as he plays a heavy game and can play both down the middle and on the wing. In 63 games this season, the pending unrestricted free agent has 11 goals, 18 points, 64 blocks, and 163 hits.

Tanev, 33, would also be a nice addition to the Maple Leafs' roster. The veteran forward plays a heavy game like Kunin and is well-known for being an energy player. Due to his solid defensive play, he would also offer the Maple Leafs another option for their penalty kill. In 60 games this season, he has nine goals, 17 points, 91 blocks, and 122 hits.

It will be interesting to see if the Maple Leafs can swing a deal for either of these forwards before the deadline passes. In either scenario, they would improve their bottom six, but time will tell if they can get something done.
