Report: Winnipeg Jets Named Potential Landing Spot For Kraken's Brandon Tanev
It was no secret that the Winnipeg Jets' top target for the trade deadline was Brock Nelson. However, Nelson is off the board after being traded to the Colorado Avalanche. This is certainly tough news for the Jets, as he would have been a perfect addition to their second line.
However, with the Jets being at the top of the NHL standings, there is no question that they are still looking to add other players. In a recent column for Sportsnet, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman brought up the prospect of the Jets reuniting with Seattle Kraken forward Brandon Tanev.
"Could them reuniting with old friend Brandon Tanev," Friedman wrote. "He was held out of Seattle's game in Nashville on Thursday. Tanev signed in Manitoba out of Providence College in 2016."
Tanev would certainly be a strong addition to the Jets' bottom six if acquired. This is because the 33-year-old winger plays a heavy game and would provide them with more energy. In addition, due to his defensive play, he would be another option for the Jets' penalty kill if acquired.
Tanev spent the first four seasons of his NHL career as a member of the Jets. In 195 games with the Central Division club, he had 24 goals, 51 points, 601 hits, and a plus-16 rating. Let's see if the Jets and Tanev reunite by the deadline from here.
