Sabres Insider: 'Unacceptable' for Sabres to Stick With GM Kevyn Adams

The Buffalo Sabres made their long-expected big move at the trade deadline, sending Dylan Cozens to the Ottawa Senators for Josh Norris. Naturally (for Sabres fans), Cozens seems to have emerged from his two season-long slump, with two goals and three points in his first three games with Ottawa.

It brings back disturbing memories for Buffalo, who have a history of trading players who have gone on to great success elsewhere (Sam Reinhart, Ryan O’Reilly, Jack Eichel...).

Sabres insider Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News is seriously questioning the work of GM Kevyn Adams, as he told Jeff Marek on Daily Faceoff's The Sheet

(The Cozens/Norris trade) was an act of desperation to try and change the dynamic around the team... A lot of the players are questioning the direction of the team. 'Where are you taking us? How are you going to fix this, Kevyn Adams?' Is he gonna be around this summer to even make some of these moves?

And when Marek asked Lysowski about what happens after the season, he questioned the GM and owner Terry Pegula even further.

He has to show everybody involved that this is unacceptable. To allow the same general manager... It's been five years under Kevyn Adams... This team is heading in the wrong direction... Ownership is going to have to step up and show these guys that this is not going to be the same thing next year.

"All the guys in that room are frustrated," Lysowski reiterated. We already heard rumors about top defenseman Rasmus Dahlin saying he could ask out if things don't change soon (rumors that Dahlin himself addressed on Tuesday).

With some key RFAs, like JJ Peterka, Jack Quinn and Bowen Byram, along with the status of Adams and head coach Lindy Ruff, it's going to be a crucial summer in Buffalo, for a lot of people in that organization.

The team is about to miss the playoffs for the 14th consecutive season, extending their own NHL record for futility.
