Senators Acquire Fabian Zetterlund From Sharks

The Ottawa Senators have acquired winger Fabian Zetterlund from the San Jose Sharks in a trade that also brings forward Tristen Robins and a fourth-round pick to Ottawa.

In exchange, the Senators are sending Zack Ostapchuk, Noah Gregor, and a 2025 second-round pick to San Jose.

Zetterlund, 25, is having a strong season with 17 goals and 19 assists in 64 games for the Sharks. He is coming off a breakout 2023-24 campaign, where he scored 24 goals and 44 points over a full 82-game season.

With Ottawa looking to bolster its top six, Zetterlund brings offensive production and experience despite his young age.

He is in the final year of his current deal, which carries a $1.45 million cap hit, and will be a restricted free agent this summer.

This is the second major move Ottawa has made at the deadline, following their earlier acquisition of Dylan Cozens from the Buffalo Sabres.

The Senators are reshaping their roster in an effort to strengthen their forward group and push for a playoff spot.

San Jose, in return, adds a promising 6'4" forward in Ostapchuk and a depth winger in Gregor while securing a valuable second-round pick.
