Sharks’ Recall Jimmy Schuldt In Hopes Of Playoff Push
After strategically waiting a few days following his assignment to the AHL for playoff eligibility, the San Jose Sharks have officially called defenseman Jimmy Schuldt back to their NHL roster.
The move gives the Sharks an extra blue-liner for tomorrow’s clash against the Nashville Predators, a welcome addition after they played shorthanded in Saturday’s loss to the New York Islanders.

The 29-year-old Schuldt, who last appeared in the NHL nearly six years ago, made his Sharks debut just before the trade deadline after being recalled from the minors.
Standing at 6’1” and boasting a left-handed shot, Schuldt’s return to the NHL marks only his second career appearance since his debut with the Vegas Golden Knights back in April 2019.
Known for his two-way play and strong puck-moving abilities, Schuldt has taken on a leadership role as captain of San Jose’s AHL team, the Barracuda.
This season, he’s posted 5 goals and 13 assists for 18 points in 54 games, along with an impressive +15 rating—good for second-best on the team.
In his Sharks debut last week against the Colorado Avalanche, Schuldt logged 14:15 of ice time, recording three shots on goal and one hit.
He made the most of his sheltered minutes, controlling play with a 9-3 edge in shots and a 7-4 advantage in scoring chances at 5v5, per Natural Stat Trick.
With the Sharks in the midst of a rebuild, Schuldt’s reliable play as a third-pairing option could prove valuable down the stretch.
The recent trade of top defenseman Jake Walman to the Edmonton Oilers has opened up opportunities for younger players like Shakir Mukhamadullin and Henry Thrun, while also giving seasoned depth players like Schuldt a chance to shine.
