TRADE: Maple Leafs Acquire Scott Laughton From Flyers

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Philadelphia Flyers have traded Scott Laughton, a fourth-round pick, and a sixth-round pick to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for a first-round pick and Nikita Grebenkin. The Flyers are also retaining half of Laughton's $3 million cap hit until the end of next season.
It is no secret that the Maple Leafs have been on the hunt for a third-line center, and they were linked to Laughton over the last several months because of it. Now, they have landed their guy, and he should be a key part of their roster moving forward.

Laughton, 30, has appeared in 60 games this season with the Flyers, where he has 11 goals, 27 points, 129 hits, and a minus-17 rating. In 661 games over 12 seasons with the Flyers, he had 106 goals, 265 points, and 1,270 hits.

Grebenkin, 21, was selected by the Maple Leafs with the 135th overall pick of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-2 winger has appeared in his first seven NHL games this season, where he has zero points, 13 hits, and a minus-3 rating. The 21-year-old forward also has nine goals and 21 points in 39 AHL contests this campaign.
